Bathrobe campaign by AGewiS attracted attention A sign of solidarity with patients and better support for dementia research.

Oberbergischer Kreis. Around 150 people in bathrobes gathered at the initiative of AGewiS to make a statement for more solidarity with patients and better support for dementia research. Employees and trainees of AGewiS danced together with citizens in the Gummersbach city park. Some of the trainees even bought bread at the bakery wearing bathrobes and used public transportation to draw attention to the condition of dementia. "We want to show that such unusual situations are not unusual for people suffering from dementia. They don't know that they have put on a bathrobe instead of a jacket," says Nicole Meyer, the head of AGewiS. Nicole Meyer is convinced that the flash mob will spark discussions and exchanges and help change attitudes toward people with dementia overall. After the nearly 30-minute event, interested individuals were invited to attend a film screening at AGewiS: the documentary "Human forever" by Jonathan des Jong and Teun Toebes was shown. A moving film that addresses interactions with people with dementia.
The Oberbergischer Kreis promoted the #bathrobechallenge as part of a nationwide campaign on World Alzheimer's Day. The idea was to take a photo publicly in a bathrobe at unusual locations, share this image on social media using the hashtag #bathrobechallenge, and nominate others to participate in the campaign.
