Fire department, hazard prevention, and fire protection

The department supports fire brigades, plans measures for various operational scenarios, and ensures that the necessary equipment is reliably ready for use. The tasks include:

• Fire Protection Service: Review and assessment of preventive fire protection measures, especially as part of construction and approval processes.

• Hazard Prevention Planning: Development and enhancement of operational and hazard prevention concepts for special damage scenarios. A particular focus is on the operational concepts of fire brigades in the Oberberg District.

• Command Staff: Preparation and coordination of measures for larger or exceptional operational situations, as well as support for operational leadership.

• Special Units: Organization and equipment of district-owned special units for specific hazard scenarios or tasks. These include units for information and communication, psychosocial emergency care, decontamination, measuring and hazard control of dangerous substances, and special components for fire fighting, such as forest or industrial fires.

• District Respiratory Protection Reserve: Ensuring additional respiratory protection devices and equipment for fire brigades in case of increased demand during prolonged or extensive operations.

• Workshop Center: Operation of the workshop center for the maintenance and inspection of fire hoses as well as the servicing and maintenance of respiratory protection devices in the Oberberg District.

Through these tasks, the department creates important prerequisites for efficient and well-prepared hazard prevention. It strengthens the operational readiness of fire brigades and supports municipalities in tackling fires, technical assistance, and other special operational situations.
