Oberbergische Engagement Platform by Aktion Mensch District highlights the diverse offerings

Oberbergischer Kreis. The Oberbergischer Kreis introduces another helpful service in the field of volunteering. In addition to the coordinators of the volunteering initiative Weitblick, who act as contact persons in the municipalities, citizens now have access to the engagement platform of Aktion Mensch, enabling them to digitally explore potential volunteer opportunities. Interested individuals can now find a variety of options and offers in their vicinity on the engagement platform.

Projects and initiatives requiring commitment to the common good are also displayed and categorized by topics, such as:
Digital engagement; Learning and education; Office and organization; Sports activities; Gardening and landscaping; Barrier-free offers; Migration and integration; Democracy and human rights; Daily life and household; Seniors; Handcrafting and repairs; Cultural heritage preservation or “For socially disadvantaged people".
Here, interested individuals can decide for themselves where and how long they wish to contribute voluntarily.
“Organizations seeking volunteer support post their offers on the engagement platform. These are accessible to all citizens free of charge and without barriers with just a few clicks. Users can enter a search term and view numerous opportunities for volunteering nearby. Digital volunteering from home is also possible. Organizations can thus specifically recruit volunteers, while interested individuals can find the volunteer work that suits them,” says Sylvia Asmussen, head of the department for civic engagement and volunteering at the Oberbergischer Kreis.

Voluntary engagement is also possible with very little time commitment and without regular appointments. Many projects offer one-time participation or appreciate occasional support. Several municipal administrations in the Oberbergischer region, such as the district administration, the city of Wiehl, and the municipality of Morsbach, also provide the digital platform on their websites.

Further information is available at www.obk.de/engagement-plattform and in the flyer (see link list).
