Social Psychiatric Service

The Social Psychiatric Service is an essential component in the community-based care of people with mental illnesses and dependency disorders, providing assistance to affected individuals and their families. It offers health support for people who are not or no longer reached by conventional support services. The Social Psychiatric Service provides counseling and guidance for individuals in special health and psychosocial life situations.

The Social Service sees itself as a neutral and independent point of contact with counseling, information, and referral functions for people requiring special health and psychosocial assistance, support, and guidance. In compliance with confidentiality obligations, close cooperation takes place with the Social Psychiatric Services of Caritas Addiction Aid, the Addiction Counseling of the Diaconal Service, and the Oberbergische Society for Assistance for the Mentally Disabled Ltd.

Special Services:

• Orientation and clarification discussions (e.g., in crisis situations, referral to further support, etc.)

• Psychosocial counseling and referral (e.g., in cases of overload, discrimination and/or abuse in care, severe illness, loss experience, etc.)

• Arrangement of home visits

• Public relations work (conferences, training events on current topics)
