For hunted wild boars and badgers, trichina samples must be taken to prevent trichinellosis, which is dangerous to humans. Additionally, a sample for monitoring African Swine Fever (ASF) is required for every hunted or found-dead wild boar.

With the diwima® app, the previous documentation process is simplified: The required data can be recorded directly at the site via smartphone. Scanning the digital wildlife tags and sample bags using QR codes enables the clear assignment of samples and test results.

Digital recording not only simplifies the work of hunters but also supports veterinary administration in monitoring and combating animal diseases. Especially in the case of African Swine Fever (ASF), a fast flow of information is crucial. The outbreaks in the neighboring districts of Olpe, Siegen-Wittgenstein, and Hochsauerlandkreis highlight the importance of efficient collaboration and timely monitoring.

The app enables faster processing of data and accelerates internal processes within the Veterinary and Food Surveillance Office. This strengthens both animal disease prevention and consumer protection.

The app will be made available to hunters in the Oberbergischer Kreis shortly after the information events. The wildlife tags and sample bags required for digital sample collection can then be obtained from the Veterinary and Food Surveillance Office.
