Horse keeping

Anyone who keeps horses

• registers them with the veterinary office and the animal disease fund,

• must apply for a horse passport (equine passport) (via the farm veterinarian or district livestock advisor)

• and records all applications of prescription and pharmacy-only veterinary medicines in a record book (unless the animals are excluded from slaughter by written declaration).

• For the transport of horses abroad you need an international health certificate. This must be applied for in writing in advance at the local veterinary office using the animal transport registration form.
